Presentation about Adelsberg Castle at Ljudska Univerza Postojna
An evening dedicated to local history and cultural heritage took place at Ljudska University in Postojna, where Juan P. Maschio presented new research on Adelsberg Castle. The presentation offered the public a deeper understanding of the castle’s history and its former significance within the region.
At the same time, Tina Poljšak from the Notranjski Museum Postojna delivered a parallel presentation for children, introducing them to medieval life, knights, and castles in an accessible and engaging manner. This dual program allowed both adults and younger audiences to connect with the region’s past.
The event was met with strong public interest, attracting visitors not only from Postojna but also from surrounding villages. Many attendees expressed surprise at the scale and grandeur of Adelsberg Castle, especially considering that only a few traces of the structure remain visible today. The reconstructed research revealed how the castle once dominated the landscape from its strategic position atop Sovič Hill, often described as its “eagle’s nest.”
The evening highlighted the importance of research, interpretation, and public engagement in preserving and understanding local cultural heritage, reinforcing the strong connection between the community and its historical landmarks.
