Interview at Pogled v Znanost – Radio ARS (RTVSlo)
Goran Tenze interviewed architect Juan Pablo Maschio for the well-known cultural program Pogled v znanost on Radio ARS Slovenija. Maschio, who has been living in Slovenia for several years, has developed a distinctive approach to raising awareness about cultural heritage preservation. Through Projekt Feniks, he creates digital reconstructions of ruined castles and presents lectures on their historical and identity-related significance.
Although a descendant of Primorska emigrants from the First World War, Maschio learned the Slovenian language only after moving to Slovenia. His commitment, energy, and persistence in addressing the condition of cultural heritage were among the key reasons for the invitation to the program.
During the interview, the discussion focused not only on the work of Projekt Feniks, but also on the broader challenges facing Slovenian heritage, the critical state of many historic sites, and the importance of long-term responsibility in preservation. The conversation also highlighted Maschio’s exhibition “Dvorec Haasberg se prebuja,” featuring photography and digital reconstructions, which is open throughout the summer at TIC Postojna.
